Firefighters are tackling a large blaze in a disused building in the Adamsdown area of Cardiff.
Police and fire crews have evacuated neighbouring properties in Pearl Street and nearby roads have been shut.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said no casualties had been reported.
Splott Road has been shut and seven engines including a hydraulic platform have been dealing with the fire.
Firefighters battered down a side door to gain entry to the building following the callout at about 12:40 GMT.
Six fire engines have been called to the scene along with three water bowsers.
An evacuation centre has been set up for local residents at the nearby Star Centre.
Police have advised residents to keep windows and doors closed.
Road closures affecting Agate Street, Splott Road and Pearl Street have been put in place, said South Wales Police.
