Mumbai: A fire broke out in a five-storey building in the Goregaon area of Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon, causing chaos and panic among residents who feared the flames might spread to nearby structures. Responding swiftly to alerts from locals, the Mumbai Fire Brigade arrived at the scene and managed to douse the blaze after nearly two hours of continuous effort, according to news agency PTI. Officials confirmed that no casualties occurred in the incident. The fire originated around 12:15 PM from an electric meter box in the Shalimar Building located on S.V. Road. Following the alert, four fire engines and other emergency vehicles were immediately dispatched to the spot. A civic official stated that teams from the municipal corporation, Mumbai Police, 108 Ambulance service, Adani Electricity, and other agencies were mobilised as part of the response.
