Shocking video footage has emerged of the moments a huge fire at a recycling depot in Salford began to surge out of control.
The 43-second clip shows smoke billowing from the Junction Eco-Park off Rake Lane in Clifton as stunned onlookers appear to panic over the growing blaze.
The video – which has been unearthed on social media – ends as a large explosion is heard coming from the flames.
A group of boys can be heard shouting ‘oh my God’ and ‘it’s not going out’ as the fire takes hold in piles of industrial waste.
Police and fire investigators have launched a probe to find out if the blaze was started deliberately.
The fire broke out at around 4.40pm yesterday and crews remained at the scene throughout the night.
Firefighters remained at the scene today to extinguish a final few small pockets of fire at the site.
Forty firefighters were needed to tackle the blaze at its height. more
