8 dead as wall collapses in Delhi’s Hari Nagar amid heavy rains

At least eight people died after a wall collapsed due to heavy overnight rainfall in Hari Nagar, damaging adjacent jhuggies near an old temple, officials said on Saturday.

Authorities have evacuated the nearby jhuggies to prevent further incidents.

Officials said several people were trapped when the structure collapsed earlier in the day, prompting a rescue operation by the Delhi Fire Services.

Earlier, a notification was received about a building collapse in Hari Nagar, Jaitpur area of South East Delhi.

Subsequent investigations clarified that it was a wall collapse, not a building collapse.In Hari Nagar, New Delhi, a devastating wall collapse triggered by heavy overnight rainfall resulted in the tragic deaths of at least eight people. The collapse damaged nearby shanties located near an old temple, prompting immediate rescue operations by the Delhi fire Services.
