Andheri commercial area fire

A tragic fire broke out at Narayan Plaza Building, a commercial complex located in the eastern suburb of Andheri, Mumbai, causing panic among occupants and nearby residents. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, when flames were reported from the third floor of the building. Thick smoke quickly spread through the structure, making evacuation difficult. Emergency services were alerted immediately as the fire intensified. The blaze resulted in the death of two people, marking yet another fatal fire incident in the city.

Fire Breaks Out on Third Floor

According to officials from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the fire erupted around 6:30 pm inside a commercial unit operating on the third floor of the building. The affected premises were used for industrial and office-related activities. Within minutes, the fire spread to furniture, electrical wiring, and stored materials. Heavy smoke filled the corridors and staircases, creating dangerous conditions. Several people were reportedly trapped before rescue teams arrived.

Massive Rescue Operation Launched

Multiple fire engines, water tankers, and rescue vehicles were rushed to the spot to control the blaze. Firefighters worked continuously for nearly three hours to bring the fire under control. The operation involved teams from the fire brigade, Mumbai Police, ambulance services, and civic officials. Smoke logging posed a serious challenge during the rescue efforts. Authorities sealed off the area to ensure public safety while operations were underway.

Two Victims Found Unconscious

During the search operation, firefighters found two men unconscious inside an office unit on the third floor. Both victims were immediately pulled out of the building and given first aid on-site. They were later shifted to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, doctors declared both individuals brought dead on arrival. Their deaths were reportedly caused by smoke inhalation, according to preliminary medical findings.

Cause of Fire Under Investigation

Officials confirmed that the fire was limited to a specific unit within the building, but smoke spread across multiple floors. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Fire safety officials and police teams are conducting a detailed investigation to identify possible reasons. Electrical short circuit is suspected, but no official confirmation has been made. Authorities have assured strict action if any safety violations are found.

Fire Safety Concerns Raised Again

This tragic incident has once again raised serious concerns about fire safety in Mumbai’s commercial buildings. Experts stress the importance of regular fire audits, functioning fire-fighting systems, and proper emergency exits. Many commercial complexes continue to operate without adequate safety compliance. Officials have urged building owners to strictly follow safety norms. Preventive measures remain crucial to avoid such heartbreaking losses in the future.
