A Deadly Evening Near the Iconic Red Fort
In a tragic turn of events, a massive car explosion rocked the area near Delhi’s historic Red Fort on Monday evening, leaving eight people dead and several others injured. The sudden blast sent shockwaves through one of the capital’s busiest zones, just as crowds were gathering nearby during the evening rush hour.
Panic and Chaos Engulf the Scene
Eyewitnesses described the horrifying moment when a parked car burst into flames, followed by a deafening explosion. Panic spread as people ran for safety while thick black smoke filled the air. Fire tenders and emergency teams rushed to the scene within minutes, battling intense flames to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby vehicles and shops.
Investigators Probe the Cause of Explosion
The Delhi Police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) have begun a joint investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. While officials have not ruled out foul play, they are also exploring the possibility of a mechanical or fuel-related fault. Forensic experts collected samples from the blast site, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed for leads.
Victims and Rescue Efforts
Out of the eight victims, five died on the spot, while three succumbed to their injuries later in the hospital. Several others are receiving treatment for burns and trauma at Lok Nayak Hospital. Local residents and shopkeepers have been praised for their quick response in helping pull victims from the burning car before emergency teams arrived.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and announced compensation for the families of the deceased.
