A fire incident was reported at an electricity meter manufacturing factory in Sector 4 of Noida on March 12. At the time of the incident, around 200–250 workers were inside the facility during their shift. Emergency teams quickly reached the site after the fire alarm was raised and began rescue operations.
Workers Trapped as Smoke Filled the Building
As the fire spread through parts of the factory building, heavy smoke filled several floors, making evacuation difficult for the workers inside. Many employees rushed toward windows and upper floors seeking fresh air while waiting for rescue teams. Authorities said workers had to be evacuated from different sections of the building as firefighters broke glass panels to reach them.
Injuries Reported During Rescue Attempts
Many of workers were injured during the incident. According to officials, several injuries occurred when workers tried to escape through windows or during the evacuation process. Many victims suffered fractures, smoke inhalation, or minor injuries while rushing to safety. Medical teams admitted the injured to nearby hospitals, where most were reported to be in stable condition.
Large Emergency Response at the Site
Firefighters from multiple stations rushed to the location to control the fire. Over 20 fire tenders and several ambulances were deployed to handle the emergency and assist in rescue operations. Authorities worked for hours to bring the situation under control and ensure that all workers were safely evacuated from the building.
Investigation into the Cause Begins
Officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have started due to an electrical issue, though authorities are examining all possible factors. Safety inspections and damage assessments are also being carried out at the factory premises.
A Reminder of the Importance of Industrial Fire Safety
The incident once again highlights the critical importance of strict fire safety measures in industrial facilities. Proper fire detection systems, emergency exits, and regular safety training can play a major role in preventing such situations from turning into larger disasters. As industries expand, strengthening workplace fire preparedness remains essential to protect workers and infrastructure.
