Bhiwandi houses hundreds of warehouses and is regarded as a logistical hub of India.
A fire broke out at a warehouse in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi early on Wednesday and spread across the adjoining warehouses within an hour. No workers were present at the warehouse, which prevented casualties in the incident, officers said.
According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the blaze erupted in a godown, where chemical fertilisers and pesticides were stored, around 4 am. The flames rose to a height of 30 metres, and could be seen from a distance of 5-6 kilometres.
