n a letter, MCD Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh said that they were informed by Education Committee Chairman Yogesh Verma flagging concerns over the way in which private schools get recognition from the Education Department.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has placed a hold on the recognition process for private schools and ordered the formation of a panel to check if essential fire safety norms have been followed by the institutions.

This decision comes against the backdrop of blaze ripping through a club in North Goa’s Arpora late Saturday night, claiming the lives of at least 25 people.
