Kanpur: The district administration has taken strict action in connection with the death of a newborn at Raja Nursing Home in Brahmanagar, Bithoor, where the infant reportedly died after being burned by incubator. Following an investigation ordered by District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, the nursing home’s registration has been cancelled with immediate effect and its NICU unit sealed.,According to the report submitted by Chief Medical Officer Dr Haridatt Nemi, Raja Nursing Home was registered, but permission to operate a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) had not been obtained at the time of registration. Despite this, an NICU was being run on the premises without authorisation.,Illegal NICU Found, Registration Cancelled,During the inspection, officials also found that the fire safety equipment at the hospital had expired. A notice has also been issued to the management, seeking an explanation within three working days.,Meanwhile, based on a complaint filed by the family of the deceased newborn, a case has been registered at Bithoor police station against the doctors of Raja Nursing Home under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.,Bithoor police conducted inquest proceedings and registered the case based on a complaint filed by the infant’s aunt, Ritu Nishad, a resident of Baqarganj.,District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh said that no compromise will be tolerated when it comes to patient safety. He has directed that a mandatory safety audit of life-saving equipment be conducted in all hospitals across the district.
