A massive fire broke out on Monday evening at a waste collection and transport facility in Paris. While official confirmation is still awaited, social media reports suggest that the blaze may have affected the Syctom waste management center. According to the fire brigade, around 60 fire engines and 200 firefighters have been deployed to the scene, reported AFP. The blaze prompted authorities to shut down a section of Paris’s main ring road to give emergency crews better access. Speaking to BFMTV, Geoffrey Boulard, mayor of the 17th arrondissement, confirmed that his district was directly impacted. The cause of the fire is not yet know. The Paris Fire Department has advised the public to stay clear of the area and urged nearby residents to exercise caution as emergency crews battle the blaze. There are no reports of any injuries or fatalities yet.
