Surat: Panic gripped the Vesu area of Surat on Friday around 7:45 am after a massive fire broke out in the Happy Enclave residential building, leading to a large-scale rescue operation. The blaze, which started on the eighth floor, quickly spread to the seventh and ninth floors, trapping residents and causing chaos in the high-rise complex. Firefighters acted swiftly, deploying multiple fire engines to the scene. Over a dozen people stranded on the upper floors were successfully rescued by emergency responders using ladders and safety harnesses. Video: Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, rushed to the scene and actively participated in the evacuation efforts. He oversaw the rescue operation and ensured that residents were safely escorted out of the building. Fire officials confirmed that the flames have since been brought under control, and cooling operations are currently underway to prevent any possible reignition. While the situation is now under control, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Authorities have begun a preliminary investigation to establish what led to the fire.
