A fire was reported at a private garment manufacturing company in Sector 63, Noida, on Friday afternoon. Thick black smoke rising from the industrial unit was visible from several nearby areas, leading to panic among workers and local residents. According to reports, the incident took place at a factory located in the D Block area. The flames later spread to nearby industrial units before emergency teams reached the spot.
Workers Evacuated Safely During Emergency
Officials confirmed that nearly 150 workers present inside the premises managed to evacuate safely after the fire started. Fire department teams quickly secured the area and asked nearby workers to move away from the affected buildings. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. Authorities stated that the timely evacuation helped avoid a larger tragedy inside the busy industrial zone.
Multiple Fire Tenders Deployed to Control Flames
The Noida Fire Department launched a large firefighting operation soon after receiving information about the incident. Around 16 fire tenders from nearby stations, including support teams from Ghaziabad and private units, were sent to control the flames. Firefighters continued operations for nearly two hours before bringing the situation under control. Police also cordoned off the surrounding roads to ensure smooth movement for emergency vehicles.
Preliminary Investigation Points to AC Explosion
Initial findings suggest that an air-conditioner installed inside one of the garment units may have triggered the fire. Officials said highly inflammable raw materials and a diesel generator stored near the factory further intensified the flames. Due to the combustible material inside the units, the fire spread rapidly to nearby structures. A detailed investigation has now been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Concerns Rise Over Industrial Fire Safety
The incident has once again raised concerns about fire safety preparedness in industrial areas of Noida and Greater Noida. In recent weeks, several fire incidents have been reported from factories and furniture markets across the region. Experts say regular safety audits, proper electrical maintenance, and emergency evacuation drills are necessary to prevent such incidents. Residents and workers are also demanding stricter monitoring of safety standards in industrial zones.
A Reminder About Workplace Safety
While the fire was controlled without any loss of life, the incident serves as an important reminder about the risks linked to industrial operations and poor fire safety management. Quick action by firefighters and timely evacuation helped prevent a bigger disaster in Sector 63. Authorities are expected to continue inspections in nearby industrial units to ensure safety systems remain functional and updated.
