A fire broke out at the UN climate summit in Belém, Brazil, on Thursday, causing panic and the evacuation of thousands of delegates. It was is not known if anyone was injured. A source with the COP presidency told Bloomberg that the blaze had been brought under control at around 14:20 local time. The fire began near national pavilions at the COP30 venue, a large area where countries showcase trade-fair-style exhibitions, often offering delegates free refreshments such as coffee.
