Fire Breaks Out in Ambulance in Moti Bagh, Oxygen Cylinder Blasts Inside

A fire broke out in a Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) ambulance of Safdarjung Hospital, which was returning to the hospital after dropping a patient at Samalkha. The fire erupted on Thursday evening, around 7:20 PM, when it reached near the Moti Bagh flyover from Dhaula Kuan. The fire erupted due to a short circuit in the conductor side seat. The driver parked the ambulance. Fire suddenly spread, and one oxygen cylinder blasted inside. Due to this, a motorcycle standing nearby also caught fire and was burned to ashes. Moreover, during the time of the fire, the ambulance was empty, and so far no one was injured. Two fire tenders were on the spot. The fire was doused. According to sources, the road is now open and vehicular movement is normal. Vivek Vihar Fire Tragedy In another fire incident, a massive blaze tore through a four-storey residential building in Vivek Vihar in the early hours of Sunday (May 3), leaving at least nine people dead and several others injured, according to an official police statement. The blaze, which spread rapidly across multiple floors, triggered a massive rescue operation involving fire services, police, and disaster response teams. The blaze erupted in a house located within the building, with the second floor reported to be the worst affected. Thick smoke and flames spread rapidly, prompting the deployment of several fire tenders to contain the situation. According to police, a PCR call regarding the fire was received at around 03:48 am at Vivek Vihar Police Station. Police teams, including the SHO and ACP of Vivek Vihar, rushed to the spot along with the fire brigade and crime teams at the premises in Vivek Vihar Phase I. Officials found that the fire had engulfed flats on the second, third, and fourth floors of the building. During rescue and firefighting operations, around 10 to 15 people were evacuated from the premises.
