Thick smoke was seen billowing from North Block in New Delhi on Monday, triggering a fire scare near Parliament. Six fire tenders were rushed to the spot after the Delhi Fire Services received a call reporting smoke emanating from the building at 11.10 am, an official said. The fire has since been extinguished, and no casualties have been reported so far. According to police, repair work was underway at the building, which may have led to a minor fire. Officials said some internal dismantling work was also in progress when the incident occurred. The fire was small and was brought under control, with no injuries reported. Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora had earlier flagged the incident in a post on X, saying he noticed thick smoke rising from behind North Block while travelling towards Parliament. He expressed hope that everyone was safe and that emergency services were responding swiftly.
