According to police, seven people were staying in the shelter at the time of the blaze.
Two men died after a fire broke out in a shelter home in Coolie Camp in South-west Delhi’s Vasant Vihar early Monday morning. Police said the blaze was reported around 3:15 am through a PCR call, following which a team rushed to the spot and found the shelter, operated by the SPYM NGO, engulfed in flames. Fire brigade personnel reached shortly after and brought the fire under control, said police.
According to police, seven people were staying in the shelter at the time of the blaze. Five were rescued without major injuries. Two residents, identified as Arjun (19) originally from Nangla Purva in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district and employed as a hotel sweeper, and Vikas (42) whose address is yet to be ascertained, were found dead, officers said.
