A massive scrapyard fire in Tampa sent thick smoke billowing into the sky Thursday, Hillsborough Fire Rescue said. Firefighters responded around 9:30 am to Liberty Recycle on St. Paul Street after multiple 911 calls reported the blaze. Fire crews escalated the blaze to a second and then third alarm, deploying 37 units with aerial operations to help contain the fire, Fire Rescue said. A firefighter was transported to the hospital after showing signs of heat exhaustion and is currently in stable condition, according to fire officials, Fox13 Tampa Bay reported. Authorities confirmed that no nearby buildings were under threat and there were no additional injuries reported.
