Fires erupted at parts of Kuwait’s key oil refining complex early Friday after a drone attack, according to Reuters citing state media, sparking renewed concerns over the safety of critical energy infrastructure in the region. The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed that its Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery was targeted in the early hours.,“Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery [was] hit by drones early on Friday, causing fires at operating units, no injuries reported,” the state news agency quoted the company as saying.,The Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery is among Kuwait’s largest and most vital oil processing facilities, serving as a key pillar of the country’s energy exports.,Notably, the same refinery came under attack earlier in March by Iranian drones, sparking fire at several of its units. The refinery was also hit on Thursday, leading to fire. Mina Al-Ahmadi can process some 730,000 barrels of oil per day. It is one of three oil refineries in Kuwait, a tiny, oil-rich nation on the Persian Gulf.
